All Porsche® 914/4
model factory tool kits included an unmarked two-piece lug wrench. The wrench is comprised of a 19mm socket, approximately 140mm in length, and a
black-painted, bent-tip Tommy bar, approximately 375mm in length.
A longer Tommy bar and variations of this socket were produced for use in VW applications, including a reversible lug/spark plug
model.

Model
year 1970-1974 Porsche 914 vehicle tool kits contain a 19mm lug socket
that is 140mm in length and has a black oxide finish. The Tommy bar is the
black, 375mm bent-tip style present in all 914 tool kits.
The
1975 and 1976 model year cars were equipped with a slightly shorter 19mm
lug socket (100 mm in length) with a silver-cadmium or zinc plated finish. The change to this
shorter socket may have actually occurred during the 1975 model year (as
opposed to between the 1974 and 1975 model year production runs).
The
Porsche 914/6 tool kit contained a Klein 19mm lug wrench with a tapered tip that enabled it to double as the jack handle. The wrench is
silver cadmium or zinc plated with the size indication of
"19mm" engraved horizontally on the socket. Later (1974 and
perhaps 1975) Porsche 911 tool kit lug wrenches were very similar, but
they were slightly longer, had a longer taper, and (most obviously) had
the "19MM" size designation on the handle. Such 911
wrenches are not correct for the Porsche 914/6. The pictures at right are
meant to show the differences in the two styles of "tapered tip"
lug wrenches.
