Porsche 914 Factory-Issued Pudenz Fuse Pack
Time to Accessorize
All Porsche 914 models came
equipped with a Pudenz fuse pack containing five ceramic fuses. The
fuses are held in a small, clear plastic "box" with a sliding lid
marked "Pudenz." This is, in turn, held in a red(ish) vinyl pouch with
a flap closure (refer to the pictures - it is hard to describe). This
red(ish) "wallet" matches the driver's manual and maintenance manual
covers, and we expect the fuse pack was initially
stored in the glove compartment with the manual as opposed to in the
tool bag.
While the pack pictured contains one 25 amp (blue), one 16 amp (red)
and three 8 amp (white) fuses, this is not the mixture that would have
been provided in all Porsche 914 vehicles. The fuse combination used in
the Porsche 914 cars changed after the 1973 model year, wherein the 25
amp fuses for the wipers/signals/etc. (fuse 8), the headlights (fuse
12) and the heater blower/fuel pump (engine compartment fuse) were
changed to 16 amp fuses... unless the car was equipped with a rear
window defroster, in which case the engine compartment fuse remained at
25 amps. We do not currently have sufficient information to match fuse
pack contents to specific model years and options choices with the
following exception:
- 1974 Porsche 914 cars without rear window defrosters were delivered with Pudenz fuse packs containing two 16 amp (red) and three 8 amp (white) fuses.
