1974-1976 Porsche 914 Horsepower and Torque Diagram: 1.8 Liter "EC" Engine

The graph below is a composite of the horsepower and torque curves for 1974-1976  Porsche® 914 vehicles with the 1.8 liter four-cylinder "EC" coded engines. The "EC" code engines are basically the 1.7L "EA" code with a larger bore (93 mm v. 90 mm) to increase displacement. This modification was designed to help offset reduced compression (7.3 : 1 v. 8.2 : 1) in an attempt to salvage performance while meeting stricter emissions standards and running on lower-octane unleaded fuel. It didn't work. The 1.8L Porsche 914 engines are substantially inferior to the 1.7L engines in horsepower, torque and acceleration.

Maximum rated horsepower (SAE-Net): 73 hp @ 4800 RPM

Maximum rated torque (SAE-Net): 89 ft-lbs @ 4000 RPM
