914, 914/6 and 916 Engine Specification and Performance Numbers
The
table below depicts the factory engine specification and power numbers
for the various Porsche®
914, 914/6 and 916 models. Torque and horsepower numbers have been
converted to U.S. measurement units using the currently accepted SAE Net
standard from other measurement units (Metric HP and kilopond-meters)
and standards (SAE Gross and/or DIN) used in the early Porsche 914
Driver's Manuals and other documentation. Briefly described, SAE Net
measurements are taken at the flywheel with standard accessory load
factored in the calculation.
Note that European specification 1973-1976
Porsche 914 2.0L cars were equipped with flat-headed pistons (as opposed
to the dished US spec pistons) resulting in an 8.0 : 1 compression ratio
and correspondingly higher power numbers. |
