& Emblems: European Specification
European
specification Porsche®
914 rear insignia are much more consistent and simplified than the U.S.
models. The Euro rear emblems reflected the different VW-Porsche joint marketing
approach by incorporating both the familiar VW logo and the Porsche block
lettering into the 914 or 914/6 rear emblem. Further simplifying matters is the
absence of engine grille lettering on European models, making the single rear
emblem the only external badging present.

Prevailing
wisdom is that the European 914/6 emblems were all
gold-anodized aluminum. As with the U.S specification 914/6
emblems, however, the parts catalog does not note a color
for the single part number cited for the Euro 914/6 logo,
914 559 112 10, allowing for the existence of chrome-silver
examples. If you have knowledge of such an emblem, please ContactUs@P914.com.
Four-cylinder
European specification Porsche 914 automobiles produced for model
years 1970-1972 were equipped with gold-anodized
aluminum emblems with the VW logo centered between the 914
logo and the block Porsche block lettering logo. The Euro
rear emblem, part number 914 559 111 10, is attached via seven mounting posts and
corresponding speed nuts, making it very secure (pictures
pending).
1973-1976
European Porsche
914 vehicles had a black-anodized aluminum rear
emblem, part number 914 559 289 10, otherwise identical to the earlier gold-anodized
emblem. Badges on European vehicles were never changed to
plastic or vinyl.
